It’s all controlled by chemical signals sent out by the body. These chemicals make the hair follicle grown and produce a substance called Keratin which forms the structure of a strand of hair. The rate at which hair grows is all controlled by your genes.

I don’t really know but I have had a google and this is what I think happens.

Each hair has a root in a follicle. When a new hair is about to grow there is a huge expansion in the cellular growth to deepen the follicle to hold a new hair root. The cells lining the follicle start to make a protein called keratin which makes up the hair itself. The cells lining the follicle keep making the keratin for between months and years. When they stop, the hair falls out usually a new hair root will form.
