      Hi Raiden,

      There was a mass extinction event about 65 million years ago. People think a massive asteroid hit the earth. The explosion killed many animals, but the climate also changed rapidly as lots of dust blocked the sun. Animal who couldn’t get enough food died. Most of the larger one died while other smaller species (like mammals) survived.

      A few dinosaur species survived – all birds and many reptiles descended from dinosaur species.
