• Question: do you know anyone that has had cancer?

      I know one or two people how had breast cancer which was treated and hasn’t/didn’t come back.

      I also know 2 people who have had blood cancers, someone who had leukeima when they were about 5years old and someone who had lympoma when they were about 40. They were both sucessfully treated.

      Yes A work colleague of mine died from as a result of breast cancer reoccurrence last January. I also know around 8 other people who have had cancer and been treated successfully. Last year my husband was diagnosed with cancer and finished chemotherapy treatment two weeks ago.

      I have known a few people with cancer – the first was my granddad, who died from lung cancer when I was only 10. It was so upsetting to see him so ill when he was in hospital and it really had an effect on me. That was nearly 20 years ago and now lung cancer treatments and survival have really improved, which makes me proud to work in cancer research, as I think things are likely to be better for people getting the same diagnosis now.
      I have also known a few people who have been successfully treated for different cancers in the last few years, which is wonderful. However, I still know people living with cancer who can’t be treated, and that helps me to remember why it is so important to keep finding out new things about cancer that might help more people to survive.

      I know quite a few people who’ve had cancer. Breast cancer runs in my mothers family and 7 of my female relatives have had the disease, luckily only one has died. My grandma has also had skin cancer twice.

      My Grandad died of cancer and I know several people who have had breast cancer. One of my friends had childhood leukaemia but survived and is fully healthy today!
