As part of my job as a biomedical scientist, i have to keep up to date with current research and findings about cancer. This is important as a new test, antibody or piece of equipment may be developed and be vital to patient diagnosis. So i like learning about cancer because it enables me to do my job better and help cancer patients.

I like learning about cancer because we don’t fully understand it. You can never know everything about it and there’s always new things to discover.

I am fascinated by how complex the disease is. There are so many types and I find it very interesting why cancer cells behave the way they do.

I like learning about things that interest me. And cancer is a very curious thing.

How does one cell ‘go rogue’ and form a tumour? How does it manage to evade the body’s defence mechanisms? How does it get around the body? These are just three questions that form the most fundamental understanding of cancer. And each question answered leads to many more to be asked. My curiosity is never fulfilled which is why I like science so much.

An advantage that I think cancer has over other scientific research is that I know that my research could save people lives and that motivates me to know more.
